You want to return to work and you’re feeling a bit anxious.
Perhaps you left the workforce because you wanted to spend more time with your children. Or, maybe you needed to take care of a loved one in need of your help. Then again, it could have been that you just didn’t like your job.
No matter what your reason for leaving, it is completely understandable to feel a bit nervous. You’re trying to make a big change and there are a lot of unknowns:
- Who will hire me?
- Have I been out of the workforce too long?
- What do I want to do?
- How will my family/loved one manage?
- What if I’m too rusty?
- Is this worth the effort?
Since starting my coaching practice, I’ve worked with a number of women in your shoes. It may seem daunting, but you can find something rewarding. You will figure it out. It takes effort, but it won’t be as hard as you think it is. My clients and I are always surprised at how quickly things happen once we get the ball rolling.
